#SDCC2017: [Trailer] First Look at Syfy’s KRYPTON, The Man of Steel Prequel

Back in 2014 we first heard rumors of a Superman prequel, then in April we had confirmation about a new Syfy series called Krypton. At the time we had a fair amount of detail, so we knew it was going to resurface eventually and it did. It popped back up this week as part of preview night at SDCC 2017 when Warner Bros. aired a new trailer.

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Krypton premieres in 2018 on SYFY.

The new series is set to air on Syfy in 2018. It will be directed by Colm McCarthy.

The cast includes Cameron Cuffe as Kal-El’s grandfather Seg-El,  Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod- the daughter of General Alura Zod,  Ian McElhinney as Val-El – Superman’s  great-grandfather . Other cast members include Elliot CowanAnn OgbomoRasmus HardikerWallis Day and Aaron Pierre.

One interesting fact I will note is that everyone is referring to it as a ‘series’ yet IMDB has it listed as a TV movie., that may be a minor mistake or a telling one.
