Action Lab Entertainment is back in the movie news! The indie publisher known for their vast library of all-ages books and mature audience comics is once again making headlines with the latest announcement following earlier this month’s news of their Danger Zone imprinted series SPENCER & LOCKE was picked up by Hitman producer Adrian Askarieh. Sony Pictures has optioned the movie rights for Action Lab’s smash award-winning series Princeless.
The series, created by Eisner-nominated writer Jeremy Whitley and illustrator Emily C. Martin, is an empowering story of a young, black princess named Adrienne Ashe. She is imprisoned in the castle’s tower, guarded by a dragon, and expected to wait there until a fair prince rescues her. But Adrienne’s not your typical princess. Not one to be waited on or pampered, she was not about to wait for no prince to show up! Adrienne escapes the tower, befriends the dragon, and takes matters into her own hands in helping others and doing what’s right.
Stefani Robinson, writer on Atlanta, Man Seeking Woman and FX/Marvel’s animated Deadpool, has been tapped to write the script. Michael Sugar (Spotlight) and Ashley Zalta will produce for Columbia Pictures. Brittany Morrissey will oversee it for the studio.
Action Lab Entertainment’s CEO/Publisher Bryan Seaton (DOLLFACE) and Publisher Jason Martin (VAMPBLADE) are scheduled for a panel at Comic-Con International tonight, Saturday, July 22nd at 7pm. Any new information released tonight will be updated here.
