This past July 25th-28th, the hot spot in SoCal was Comic-Con International: San Diego. Okay, “hot spot” MAY be a poor choice of words given nearly all surrounding cities were experiencing temps over 100 degrees during that span. Even with the extreme heat engulfing the southern part of the state, San Diego’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean kept the high temperatures around 75-80 degrees.
I (Jason Bennett, Writer/Chief Editor at PopCultHQ) cruised down the 5 for PopCultHQ’s fifth year in a row attending & covering San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). I was fortunate to once again have my good friend and photographer, Jose Loza, joining me for a third time to help attain content for PopCultHQ’s convention coverage in the Southwest region. With snapshots taken for us at Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con on two occasions, it was immensely helpful having him get photos of cosplayers this year for the four-day event.

Every year, you are guaranteed to see a strong cosplay turnout, both in quantity and quality. It’s not just the comic book creators, publishers, gaming companies, exhibitors, and entertainment industry that go all out for SDCC, but the cosplayers bust out their best. All the cosplayers, novice to professional, were an attraction in and of itself. Given the fact that Deadpool & Wolverine hit theaters during the course of this year’s con, it was not hard to find Deadpool cosplays and, though to a lesser extent, Wolverine cosplays. Aside from those two mutants, San Diego Comic-Con always has cosplay across any and all genres and fandoms – comic book superheroes, anime & animation characters, and notable people across pop culture.
So if you’re ready, here is the second batch of the great cosplay that turned out for the 2024 show!
