[Recap] Impact Wrestling (3/16)

Impact Wrestling

Written by Shining Polaris

Impact Wrestling airs every Tuesday on AXS TV, as well as on Impact Wrestling’s own Twitch channel at 8 pm EST. This was the first episode since this past weekend’s Sacrifice event.

*** WARNING: This article contains spoilers for the
Impact Wrestling show from March 16th, 2021***

The show opened up immediately with the brand-new Impact Tag Team Champions, Finjuice against the team of XXXL. XXXL had some offense against the new champions, but in a matter of minutes Finjuice was victorious. They had barely celebrated their undefeated streak when the Good Brothers walked out wanting to talk. Karl Anderson was on the mic trying to demand a rematch, because they were not prepared for the match. The Good Brothers had been busy traveling with Kenny Omega and having matches outside of Impact, thus they were very tired. Finjuice agreed to a rematch, but it couldn’t be until Finjuice returned from Japan in April.  David Finlay ended it by calling the Good Brothers “Young Boys” which resulted in a beat down. Finjuice escaped as the Good Brothers looked on, knowing they couldn’t do anything more.

Good Brothers

The Good Brothers then marched into Impact Vice President’s, Scott D’Amore, office. Crying to Scott, because they didn’t know how they lost those belts. They can’t believe Finjuice is taking the belts to Japan for a month and are worried about what they could happen to the belts there, including defending it with NJPW Tag Teams. Scott said it is their fault they lost the match and he has nothing to do with what Finjuice may do with the belts. Scott also reminded the Good Brothers that Finjuice will return in April for their next PPV, Rebellion

With that, Impact announced their second match on the card – The Good Brothers Vs. The Impact Tag Team World Champions.

Impact Rebellion

It will be very interesting to see what will Finjuice do with the belts in Japan? Who will they defend against? Will they lose the belts in Japan and at Rebellion will the Good Brothers be facing someone else?

On AEW Dynamite this Wednesday, the Good Brothers will have a match against Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston. Don Callis will be on the side of the Good Brothers. Will he address their loss on AEW? We will have to tune in to see?

IMpact 3-16

Rich Swann is the new Unified Impact/TNA World Champion and he walked into the ring cutting a promo about how he will represent Impact Wrestling as he faces Kenny Omega on Rebellion. Don Callis interrupted him and started monologuing about how proud he is of Rich Swann. He reminded Swann about everything he did to help Swann reach to the top and how Swann was his guy.  But Callis said he has moved on to someone better, Kenny Omega. Don kept repeating to Swann that Kenny defeated him with the “One Winged Angel,” and that even though Swann is a good wrestler Kenny is the “God of pro-wrestling.” Don ended his speech by telling Swann to enjoy his win now, but history has already been written. An angry Swann, just stood there.

Don Callis is a talented speaker.  This promo was almost 10 minutes with no interruptions. If viewers weren’t excited about Rebellion already, listening to him talk about the main event match, showing how important and “history making” it could be, should have hyped them up.

Usually, after a person speaks, that person would get an after-match/promo beatdown. It was interesting to see Rich Swann did nothing. It could mean that Swann is worried and needs to stop celebrating and refocus his energy on this future match. It also shows how intimidating Don Callis is and the power he wields over the wrestlers. It is still a month away from Rebellion.  A lot could happen in that time and we will see if there is any change in Swann’s attitude and demeanor.
