R.I.P. Batman – Adam West Dead at 88

Best known for his iconic 1960’s television title role in Batman,  Adam West passed away on June 9th after a short battle with Leukemia. He is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He started life in 1928 in Walla Walla, Washington as William West Anderson and adopted the stage name Adam West in 1959. Before landing the well-known role of Batman, he had roles in several Western and police shows, throughout the late 50’s and 60’s. He was also a regular on “The Detectives” where he played Detective Sargent Steve Nelson.

His iconic role as Batman ran from 1966 to 1968 and unfortunately led to typecasting, making it difficult for him to land many roles. But he persisted and did eventually make it back into the entertainment industry with appearances on both the large and small screens.

During the 1990s, Adam West became a pop culture icon which led to guest appearances on several TV shows and numerous voice over roles, including a regular appearance on Family Guy as Mayor Adam West.

He will be missed by everyone.
