Once again we journey into the realm of sequels. We look at what is scheduled and what is merely rumor or speculation. We also avoid the DCU and MCU movies because everyone knows where they currently stand.
The LEGO Movie Sequel
We are given a date of May 18, 2018 for the sequel to the hit movie. Positions have changed a little with the directors of the first movie, Chris Miller and Phil Lord writing it. The director this go round will be Rob Schrab.
London Has Fallen
This sequel to Olympus Has Fallen has Gerard Butler returning as Mike Banning who is attempting to save England. Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhart also return to the cast. This movie hits theaters in January 2016.
MacGruber 2
As of February, Will Forte has stated that MacGruber 2 is an active project for him and claims that they have a loose outline of the first couple of acts. So this has better chances than a few others.
Machete Kills Again… In Space
According to Danny Trejo he and director Robert Rodriguez were set work on the movie later this year. We haven’t heard much on it since then.
Madagascar 4
We can apparently expect to see this film in May 2018. There isn’t a lot of information, no voices and no script. Somehow I have a feeling that this will be a straight to video movie.
Mad Max: The Wasteland
The next movie in the Mad Max franchise. George Miller has mapped out the next two movies in the series, he just needs the go ahead. Up to two more films are planned, and following the ecstatic reaction to Mad Max: Fury Road, Warner Bros is likely to allow Miller to make them. The fifth Mad Max movie is going to be called Mad Max: The Wasteland. Whether it focuses more on Max or Furiosa, remains to be seen, but I am betting that it will focus on yet another adventure of the title character. Who knows we may see Furiosa with her own movies int he future.
Maleficent 2
Disney is moving ahead with a sequel. They have a Linda Woolverton as the writer and Joe Roth as the producer. Lets see who else they manage to bring in.
Mallbrats
Kevin Smith is definitely doing a second Mallrats and it has a growing cast with 18 returning characters. We should be seeing this sometime in 2016.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure
The final movie in the Maze Runner trilogy. Wes Ball is expected to direct and Dylan O’Brien will once again star. The film is due in January 2017.
Mechanic: Resurrection
This latest Jason Statham film is expected to his theaters April 15th, 2016 It has a stellar cast list that includes Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh.
Men In Black 4
Planning for this film started after Men in Black 3, but it never went anywhere and Will Smith doesn’t seem all that interested in doing another one. If this one reawakens it will probably be a reboot.
Mission: Impossible 6
Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation doesn’t even hit theaters until July 31st, but Paramount is already looking to cash in on another MI movie. As far as we know a writer isn’t lined up but if MI6 does well at the box office we will probably have more information within a few months.
Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie 2
If you enjoy British Comedy then Mrs. Brown’s Boys is a series you need to catch. If you are already a fan of the show then you’ve probably seen Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie. This was a box office smash in the British Box office and Brendon O’Carroll, the star and writer, has already confirmed that they are looking at a sequel. BBC is also anxious to have another hit series on their hands.
Need For Speed 2
Based off of the video game, The Need For Speed movie struggled to win critics, but still managed to make a nice profit. The popularity of Fast and Furious franchise has made the studios eager to get their own piece of the pie. It is rumored that funding for the new film is coming from the China Movie Channel and a few of their partners. No word on a script or casting, but they are in talks with EA Games.
Neighbors 2
Original writers, director and cast are set to return in this sequel. The script isn’t complete, but the storyline will focus on a new sorority house that moves next door and the couple tries to bring it down with the help of a few members from their former neighbors. They plan to have the film in cinemas in summer May 13, 2016
