PopCultHQ’s Comic Creator Spotlight is on creator/writer Troy Vevasis!
What began as simple script writing and an online comic spread to a self-published title and having his short stories published, all within 4 years in the biz. Not a bad start to Troy Vevasis’ comic book career. The two short stories Troy wrote, “The Harvest” and “The Duel,” were published in Indie Comics Magazine #9 and #10, respectively, in 2015. Now that’s a pretty sweet credit to have! Vevasis has also self-published seven full comics and three mini comics, and his current project, Mr. Crypt from Alterna Comics, has him teaming with artist Aleksandar Jovic for a fun, all-ages series following a lonely skeleton and his wild adventures (there’s vampires too!).
So sit back, relax, and find out more about writer Troy Vevasis, hear who and what inspires him, and what’s been the highlight of his career (so far).

PopCultHQ’s Interview w/ Comic Creator
TROY VEVASIS
PopCultHQ: When did you first get into the comic business? Your first title/project and what was the impetus that got you interested in this medium? How long have you been a part of the industry?
Troy: I got into writing comics back in the summer of 2011. I wrote a few comic scripts for fun until I made a short web comic called “The Protector” in 2012. In 2013 I self-published my first full length comic called “Tales of Trolik.” My first work published by a publisher was my short called “The Harvest” that appeared in Indie Comics Magazine #9.
PopCultHQ: What projects are you currently working on?
Troy: I am working on a few comics that I am submitting to different publishers. I am unable to discuss most of them.
PopCultHQ: What creator (writer/artist/publisher) would you most like to work with?
Troy: I would love to work with artist Luke Ross! His artwork is incredible! I would also love to work with Dark Horse comics!
PopCultHQ: From where do you draw your inspiration?
Troy: Classic horror movies and fantasy stories have had a big impact on me. I am also a big fan of Jeph Loeb, Roy Thomas and Robert E Howard.
PopCultHQ: What’s the proudest moment for you as either a writer or pertaining to the comic book industry?
PopCultHQ: If you had the opportunity to go back and make changes to any issue you worked on, would you? And if so, which and why?
PopCultHQ: Is there anything additional you’d like to add or promote?
Troy: My most recent comic series called Mr. Crypt is on Comixology. The series is published by Alterna Comics.
