Writing:
There are so many new writers who contribute to this year’s Millarworld Annual. New talent brought to the Millarworld team who are very clearly going to fit in at the company. Each writer takes the four or five pages they are given, and the specific Millarworld character they chose as part of the talent search. Then they add their own level of depth to these already stand-out creations from Mark Millar’s mind. It is plain to see that there’s a lot of great new writers out there, and this annual gives readers a chance to see what they can do.
Art:
Each artist who teamed up with the respective writer to contribute to this annual has their own unique style that made them stand out. Every page of this annual is filled with amazing art, different from what other people are producing in the market. And within the confines of the few pages given to each team, that art flourishes like newborn birds taking flight. For everyone who loves comics for the art and loves seeing what new talent is out there, this annual will bring a lot of both to bear.
PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:
Millarworld Annual 2017 is another fine example of what it means to give budding creative’s a chance to do what they love, write and draw comics. Inside these 28 pages lies the work of people who are going to go on to do great things in the industry. This annual is worth getting not only because it’s chock full of some of Millar’s finest characters, but because it showcases what people can do creatively when given the chance to show off their gifts.
