PopCultHQ Review: The Legend of Oz, from that once upon a time tale from over the rainbow, meets the Wicked West in Big Dog Ink and Aspen Comics hit book. Dorothy and her friends must fight against a deadly swarm of bees who are set to stop them in their tracks from getting to the Emerald City, but that’s not the only obstacle in the way. Who is going to sacrifice themselves to help Dorthy and the others to continue on the yellow brick roads path? In this next issue of Legend Of OZ: The Wicked West, the many strange creatures of this land still seem unique and wonderful to Dorthy, but she needs to find home. Too bad the Wicked Witch has other plans for the gun-slinger with her ruby-handled revolvers.

Tom Hutchinson continues to bring such diversity to what you once knew of Dorothy, Toto, scarecrow, cowardly lion and the tin man. Everything you once knew about that old fable, just toss it out the window when you enter Legends of Oz. What I like about this series a lot, is that it’s not content to just be a twisted mash-up idea. While the character maybe more rustic than you’re used to, but the players still frolic around in that fantasy sandbox it originates from. OZ in name only, but wildly original in many ways. Such a great fantasy series thus far.
