[Podcast] PodCultHQ’s BEYOND THE SYNOPSIS Ep. 5: Lee Loughridge of STANDSTILL #1

Jason Bennett Avatar

Beyond the Synopsis” is a show from PopCultHQ‘s podcast – PodCultHQ – where we interview comic book creators and discuss their latest project(s). It might be the next exciting issue of a miniseries or ongoing, an upcoming title launch, a pre-order push, or the release of a trade paperback, hardcover collected edition, or an original graphic novel. And while a synopsis provides a sample of what you can expect with any release, “Beyond the Synopsis” seeks to explore the project(s) even further. Through interviews with the creator(s), we provide even more reasons for you to check out, pick up, pre-order, or snag yourself a copy.

For episode five of BEYOND THE SYNOPSIS, I spoke with the multi-award winning creator, writer, color artist, and whose name I screwed up the entire interview, apparently, Lee Loughridge about his new title at Image Comics entitled STANDSTILL.

Lee has amassed countless credits to his name, mostly as a color artist. You’ve probably noticed some of his work recently in titles from Dark Horse, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, and AHOY Comics. In addition, he recently appeared onstage (with fellow creators Becky Cloonan, Tula Lotay, and Will Dennis) at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) when DSTLRY’s SOMNA took home Best New Series at the 2024 Eisner Awards.

Loughridge’s latest project is being put out by Image Comics, with whom he’s worked on such titles as SCARLETT (w/ Skybound), THE SIX FINGERS, THE ONE HAND, KILLADELPHIA, I HATE THIS PLACE, THE GOOD ASIAN, CRUDE, and who doesn’t love DEADLY CLASS?

Lee’s co-creator on STANDSTILL is illustrator Andrew C. Robinson, who provides stunning artwork, double-pages spreads, rich in detail, and lively as all get up. Issue one will suck you in so quickly, you’ll be pre-ordering future issues before you finish the debut.

Here’s a look at the debut issue of STANDSTILL,
which releases in comic shops on Wednesday, August 21st!
