Netflix recently released a teaser trailer for their upcoming film Death Note. Inspired by the Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note tells a story of Light Yagami — a high school student who comes across a notebook that isn’t so ordinary, at least not the kind you would use to take notes during math class.
Light soon finds that the notebook is of a supernatural nature and allows the beholder who pens an individual’s name while imagining their face, that individual will die. Seduced by this new ability and responsibility he holds, Light begins to eradicate those who he believes do not deserve to live.
Directed by Adam Wingard, Death Note stars Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Lakeith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi, Shea Whigham, and Willem Dafoe. This original film is set to be released on Netflix on August 25th of this year.
