Mr. Robot: The Newest Mind-Numbing Drug is this TV Show!

When I get asked what is the best show on television? I will give them some other program that will appease to their pop culture needs. But this one, this one show, I save all to myself…..

Seems like the sort of thing a drug addict would say. Well then I must confess for I am completely  addicted to “Mr. Robot”. There is nothing about this show that I do not love and one of the few shows I have to watch right away, not just kept saved on my DVR list.

Mr. Robot is like having the best parts of “The Matrix” and “Fight Club” without the distractions of Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, unnecessary fighting, the CGI overload and the need to be overly artistic in its final presentation. Not that I’m saying Fight Club is a bad movie at all, to the contrary. Fight Club is spectacular! Mr. Robot is by far superior is what I’m getting at.

A show that has finally found the true voice of the socially awkward hackers around the world. A show that has no fear about looking drug addiction right in the eye exposing its raw vile ugly truths and the vicious circles it creates. On top of that the audience gets thrust upon an interwoven tale of  conspiracy involving the most powerful 1% of the top 1% of the nation’s wealth and their plan for world takeover (at least that’s what our main character ‘Elliot’ thinks). Then we have the counter-conspiracy group led by Christian Slater’s character ‘Mr. Robot’, that wants to bring it all down. Another thing I love about the show is the subtle homages or as they call them these days ‘Easter Egg’  to one of my all-time favorite movie “True Romance” (the sunglasses).

Our poor ‘Elliot’ is stuck in the middle as he too has his own hacker vigilante missions to take care of . If only he could get over his mental issues and drug use. “Mr. Robot” is completely in touch with the true underbelly of this world and is not taking any shortcuts in its dynamic writing. If you want to get into the head of a person with social disorders, Elliot has his fair share. Ever wonder what goes on in the mind of a drug addict, Elliot is your conduit to that world. While this show can be a very blunt look at viewers own demons in certain aspects, “Mr. Robot”  could also in the end, help a lot of troubled young men to look introspectively at their own lives. A great show is measured by its connection with its fans, this new show will undoubtably touch many lives. I highly recommend Mr. Robot to anyone looking for that breakout hit show to jump on.

USA Network has taken a shot with Mr. Robot and it seems to be paying off with instant fans and word of mouth will only hype it even more. Mr. Robot has been picked up for a second season of 10 episodes and the show’s creator/writer Sam Esmail has already hinted of having an ending for the series 5 or 6 seasons down the road.

Mr. Robot extended trailer:

Creator: Sam Esmail
Stars: Rami Malek, Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday
