If there’s one thing about movies that’s true, it’s that horror and thriller film will always be popular regardless of the time of year. The Halloween season has passed once again with the holiday season in full swing, yet there are still a number of horror and thriller films included in this weekend slate of releases. New in theaters this weekend is a story about a cello that turns out to cost much more than money, an action film about a fixer who must turn to the ex-wife of his latest victim to solve his own problems, a theatrical release of a popular Broadway musical, a new animated adventure from the famed Studio Ghibli, and much more!

The Boy and the Heron (PG-13)

A young boy named Mahito yearning for his mother ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead. There, death comes to an end, and life finds a new beginning. A semi-autobiographical fantasy from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki.
