[Movie News] Gwyneth Paltrow To Leave Marvel Cinematic Universe

Avengers Endgame

With Avengers: Endgame just a few short months away, so to is the departure of characters that have been part of the MCU for over a decade. Chris Evans will most notably be leaving the role of Captain America, and there is much speculation about who may be joining him in departing.

In a recent interview with Variety, Gwyneth Paltrow has announced that she will be leaving her role as Pepper Potts after Avengers: Endgame.

“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point. I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friend with [‘Iron Man’ director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first ‘Iron Man’ and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”

While Endgame will be her character’s formal exit from the franchise, Paltrow does not seem opposed to returning for a cameo or appearance here and there:

“Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,’ I will always be there if they need me.”

Paltrow’s statements show that she obviously has a fondness for the role and has enjoyed her time as part of the MCU.

What remains to be seen is just how Pepper will leave. Was she turned to dust in the after-effects of Thanos’ snap? Did she survive the “snappening” of Avengers: Infinity War only to perish in the events of Endgame? Will she and Tony ride off into the sunset together for a happily ever after?
