Ever since the first set images appeared of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, fans have been anxious to see her in her Captain Marvel outfit. Well, the wait is over. Today, Entertainment Weekly released the cover of the latest issue with Larson in all her glory as Captain Marvel, as well as a gallery of 10 images.

The EW article gives us some more details on what to expect from the Captain Marvel film. Rather than going with the traditional origin story, when the film begins Carol Danvers will no longer be on Earth. When we first meet her she already has her powers, having left her home planet and the Air Force to join the elite Kree military force (called Starforce). This group is led by Jude Law‘s character Mar-Vell, and we will again see the character of Korath (Djimon Hounsou).

When she eventually does make her way home, she will have to face off with some formidable foes – the shape-shifting Skrulls. Since the film takes place in the 90’s, we will get to see Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) when he was just a young S.H.I.E.L.D. agent working a desk. Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) will also make a return to the MCU, as well as Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson.

The film has two directors – Ryan Fleck, and the MCU’s first female director in Anna Boden. Here is how Boden describes Carol Danvers:

“This is not a superhero who’s perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection. But what makes her special is just how human she is. She’s funny, but doesn’t always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn’t always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity — and all of its messiness.”
