It all started in 1979 with Mad Max, and has since grown into a series with a cult following that spans generations. The latest film, Mad Max: Fury Road, was in 2015, and it brought a whole new generation into the cult series fold.
George Miller, the creator and director of this franchise, has spoken for years about adding another film to the series. In 2019, he told Dateline how he has developed backstories for all his primary characters, from the guitar player strapped to the front of the chase vehicle to the lead character Furiosa, all the character have detailed backgrounds.
Now, it looks like we will have a chance to see the background of one of those characters. A prequel to Fury Road, the backstory of Furiosa is in the works. Glass actress Anya Taylor-Joy has been cast in the title role. Chris Hemsworth has also been cast, with rumor of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as well. Miller will direct and produce with his producing partner Doug Mitchell.
