Mega-Crossover Event Planned for Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash & DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

SupergirlIt was bound to happen. The CW is planning on having their annual crossover event for the 2016-2017 season include all four of the network’s DC-based superhero shows. That’s right. Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and newly acquired Supergirl will all come together for what will be an epic event.

The CW chief Mark Pedowitz spoke with reporters during a conference call this morning ahead of The CW’s upfront presentation in New York. The exec professed his faith in the move stating, “our annual crossover event this fall [will] be the biggest one ever.

Dead to RightsThe CW has garnered a lot of success, and ratings, when holding a crossover on their shows. Having Grant Gustin appear a few times on Arrow led to the speedster’s own series The Flash. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was built from characters from those two shows. The Flash visited National City this past season, so everything seems to be falling in line with how CW integrates their heroes. Now with Supergirl entering the network’s superhero arena, the question has been asked by many fans if Kara Danvers will appear on any of The CW’s sister programs. As it turns out, she’ll mix with them all.

The FlashThe crossover event, though just announced and probably doesn’t even have a script in place as of yet, will likely air sometime right before the midseason as the crossovers have in the past. With Supergirl coming under The CW’s wing and relocating to Vancouver to shoot, people wondered how the change in location would affect production.

I don’t think it will have a major effect on how [the Supergirl producers] actualize what they do,” Pedowitz said of the move, “[The CW] is where the show should have been all along.” The CW chief is predicting that Supergirl will be one of its top three most-watched series this fall.

LoTPedowitz also addressed speculation that the relocation would mean losing cast member Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant) by assuring those in attendance that discussions are in progress with Calista and that she does indeed want to continue with the series.

Supergirl will air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW starting in the fall.
