PopCultHQ had the privilege in attending & covering Comic-Con International‘s Comic-Con Special Edition, a three-day event on Thanksgiving weekend (November 26-28). The pared down convention was much more comic-centric than in years’ past due to the show running in the fall rather than the summertime event for which it’s known. Comic-Con International also reduced the number of tickets being sold, as well as implemented COVID precautions to protect those in attendance.
At Comic-Con Special Edition, I spoke with Kayden Phoenix. The owner of Phoenix Studios has been building a fun and exciting Latina superhero universe, known as A LA BRAVA. These stories and characters are uplifting and empowering. You’ll witness their struggles, overcoming adversity, believing in one’s self, and finding the strength for anything from within.
The A LA BRAVA Universe: JALISCO, a blade-wielding folklorico dancer that uses her culture as her weapon. SANTA, a brawler that takes down the ICE detention centers. LOQUITA, a teen detective in the supernatural world. RUCA, a vigilante taking justice. BANDITA, the gunslinger in modern day New York. RUCA was just funded on Kickstarter and BANDITA will be crowdfunded in March 2022.
JALISCO, the Mexican Latina Superhero
A blade-wielding folklorico dancer that uses her culture as her weapon.
