Hulu to Offer LIVE Streaming of Major Networks in 2017

Hulu just announced a new live streaming option coming next year and, lets just say, the waiting period for the latest episode just got cut by 100%. Well then, goodbye cable.

Hulu has just announced some major plans that should have Netflix and Amazon Prime Videoas well as Dish’s Sling TV and Sony’s PlayStation Vue, concerned. The streaming battle rages on and one service is working their way up the ranks. Beginning in 2017, Hulu will offer live streaming TV shows to its subscribers. This is HUGE! As you know, Hulu is the only streaming service that offers users the option to watch some television episodes 24 hours after they originally aired. Talk about stepping your (own) game up.

CEO Mike Hopkins acknowledged Hulu’s plans to the Wall Street Journal that major television broadcasts such as Fox, FX, ABC, ESPN and the Disney Channel are all on board with this new endeavor. Out of all these channels, ESPN’s addition to the live streams is the channel that will be monumental in its appeal to new subscribers.

No further details were announced, but it appears that the streaming service recognizes people are shifting from cable and preferring to stream content instead. And Hulu is willing to help you out.

While Netflix is the most popular streaming service available, and Amazon Prime second (although somewhat distant), Hulu looks to propel itself as a worthy competitor. With more Hulu-original series planned, offering your favorite TV shows to view as soon as 24 hours after it aired, and now by adding LIVE streaming of some networks, they certainly do make an enticing service.
