Reptile’s Random Review: “The Good Place” on Netflix

I have been watching NBC’s “The Good Place” on Netflix, which has 3 seasons available. With the shows fourth and final season about to premiere, I figured I should share my thoughts on the show. The premise is four people who died and have gone to heaven, a.k.a. The Good Place, or have they? SPOILER ALERT The show starts out with central character Eleanor Shellstrop, played by  Kristen Bell, sitting in a waiting room in the afterlife, awaiting her orientation with Michael the Architect, Ted Danson. Michael explains she has died and all the good deeds she has done in

Reptile’s Random Reviews: City of Heroes is Back

I’m sure many of you are aware that City of Heroes/City of Villains has returned as a play-for-free online game. I was excited when I found out and scoured the internet to find how I could play once more. City of Heroes first launched in North America in April of 2004 followed by the February 2005 release in Europe. City of Villains was released as a stand-alone game on October 31, 2005, allowing players to play as supervillains and two games were officially merged on July 16, 2008. I, myself, spent many addicted hours playing this game and was there

[Convention] PopCultHQ’s Green Lantern Challenge: Phillip Sevy at Rose City Comic Con 2019

With all the conventions PopCultHQ attends each year, there is always a lot with which could be covered: interviews from the show, cosplay pics, panels, signing appearances, and who knows what else? But I am continually looking for ways to improve what we do, expand our coverage in new ways, and find interesting and/or unique ways to promote comic book creators. My latest concept is one I think fans will enjoy…the Green Lantern Challenge.   So here’s the deal – I line up a commission piece from a comic creator prior to the show I am about to cover on-site

[Video Interview] SDCC 2019: David M. Booher & Drew Zucker of IDW Publishing’s CANTO

PopCultHQ made an appearance for a couple of days at this year’s 50th Annual Comic Con International: San Diego 2019. When we first heard we would be on-hand at the granddaddy of all comic conventions, we broke the news online that PopCultHQ would be in the house! Shortly after our announcement, I received a DM from a comic creator asking if I’d be interested in interviewing him and his co-creator at the show. When I saw who it was and the book in which they were promoting (issue one had released about 2 weeks prior), the choice was immediate –

Reptile’s Random Reviews: ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’

As many of you, already know The Dark Crystal was an awesome movie from 1982. The movie was written, directed, and starred Jim Henson and his Muppets. This was a family-level adventure movie that stayed in the hearts and minds of many. It’s also a movie which has stood the test of time and is still as enjoyable as the day it was first released. With that said, when I heard Netflix was making a sequel I was quite skeptical.  I was thinking they were taking another classic movie I love and making a mess of it.  Then I saw

[Book Review] Baen Books: ‘Hoka! Hoka! Hoka!’

THE HOKAS ARE BACK IN THIS CLASSIC OF HUMOROUS SF FROM POUL ANDERSON AND GORDON R. DICKSON. The Interbeing League had been formed to make contact with new intelligent races in the galaxy and offer them membership. But when the League encountered the Hokas, furry creatures strongly resembling the teddy bears of Earth, the League’s agent, Alexander Jones, could have been excused for wishing he had a simpler assignment than making sense out of the Hokas—such as singlehandedly stopping an interstellar war. Not that the fuzzy aliens were unfriendly. In fact, they loved everything about humans, and adopted various Terram
