The X-Files revival is currently filming in Vancouver, B.C.  During the time off since the original series ended, it looks like our main duo who investigate supernatural phenomena have become different people.  Mulder looks like a hot mess in drab attire and scruffy beard.  Both actors spoke to EW on the places their characters are now:

“Mulder’s not in a great place.  He’s wearing bad jeans, so you can just extrapolate from my wardrobe. He’s in a dark, dark place.”David Duchovny

I like where we find Mulder and Scully in their relationship.” – Gillian Anderson

Creator Chris Carter had this to say, “The X-Files ended right after 9/11.  A lot has happened since then. A lot of rollback of rights and liberties in the name of our protection. We’re being spied on now, we’re being lied to — all things that, for me, remind me of when I grew up, which was right around Watergate. I think we’re in similar and much more dire times right now.”

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now have our first look at David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), Annet Mahendru, Joel McHale, and a peek at the cover of the script for episode one.
