Wired.com has released a video detailing how Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) intended on having Grey Hulk appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron.  In the comics, the Hulk was originally supposed to be grey.  Due to printing problems with the ink, which always made the grey skin appear green, Stan Lee chose to keep the greenish look despite envisioning something else.  *** WARNING – Minor spoilers ahead ***

The excitement of potentially seeing Grey Hulk on the big screen came a few months ago when the retailer Hot Topic debuted their exclusive Funko POP Vinyl figure, the Hulk, to promote the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

From this image, many speculated that since his pigmentation appears to be greyish, that we could expect to see Grey Hulk make an appearance.  Turns out that was to be the case.  After many trials of changing the look to the mammoth hero, ILM opted to leave him green to appease the Hulk fans.  Initially, the Hulk was to turn grey while fighting in the Hulkbuster sequence to show he was under the spell of the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).   Director Joss Whedon decided to just make the Hulk’s eyes red to show he was under the control of the mutant, oops, Inhuman (?).
