Last month, Paul Feig tweeted first look photos at the Ghostbusters’ uniforms and that made fans ravenous to become immersed in Slimer slime once again. Since that first image Feig has kept driving ghost busting fans crazy on his Twitter account with picture hints at the cool new Ghostbusters tech and gear that will appear in the newly rebooted franchise. With hashtags each new picture showed another iconic movie prop in its rebooted form, the Ecto-1 and the all too legendary “proton packs” made famous in the original Ghostbusters movies.
The reboot of the Ghostbusters franchise has already added Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Red Dawn), who will be playing the male version of Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz, the quirky secretary to the original films. Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon will play the new look team of Ghostbusters. The new team of “Erin Gilbert”, “Jillian Holtzmann”, “Abby Yates”, and “Patty Tolan” seems to have mixed appearances of the classic movie and even a touch of The Real Ghostbusters TV cartoon series, that had an odd looking blonde crazy haired “Egon”. Pictures of an open street filming of the movie show that principle shooting is already underway. No current confirmed news has been given on if any of the original actors of the classic series will make any cameos in this new Feig-directed film.
UPDATED: Dan Aykroyd WILL make an appearance in the new Ghostbusters reboot.
Neil Casey has also been cast and is set to play the villain in Ghostbusters, Sony’s female-driven reboot of the comedy movie will be directed by Paul Feig from a script by Feig and Kate Dippold.
Many fans on the internet may not be too happy about the news of this new reboot, but there is always one good thing to keep in mind ghost-busting fans. The great thing about reboots….the originals will always be there to enjoy, nothing is ruined.
