This movie will certainly be a departure from what comic book fans are familiar.  In the comics, the quartet gain their powers/abilities after they were exposed to cosmic radiation during a trip to outer space.  In this new approach, the team has their physiological makeup altered after entering another dimension (possibly the Negative Zone?).  Also, the sibling relationship between Sue and Johnny Storm is one of adoption rather than a biological nature.  Despite these drastic changes from the original “first family of comics,” the movie itself looks to carry weight and substance.  Fox Studios seems confident in the retelling of the franchise as they have already slated a date for a sequel (June 9, 2017).

The film’s synopsis is as follows:

Four young outsiders teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe which alters their physical form in shocking ways. The four must learn to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
