With the upcoming anniversary of Star Trek we all keep waiting for a big announcement, something that will wow the fans. Even the promotion for the new movie is severely lacking. It is due out next July and we have nothing; not even a title or any promo pictures.
They can’t even claim that the death of Leonard Nimoy threw a wrench into the works because he wasn’t even listed as cast. We have a bunch of very loose rumors that haven’t even been updated in months.
But on the plus side, if the studios won’t deliver, the fans will. Over the last several years there has been a variety of independent Star Trek projects. Star Trek:Renegades is one that stands out from them all.
They have just released an eye-catching visually impressive trailer that contains many of the original Star trek cast members.
It has taken several years of Kickstarter and Indiegogo fund-raising, but it looks like they have done it. Thanks to some serious Star Trek fans they have gotten a heavy push in the right direction. Currently the project is directed by Tim Russ, who played Tuvok in Star Trek: Voyager. The contains several previous Star Trek cast members such as Tim Russ, Walter Koenig(Chekov on Star Trek), Robert Picardo (The Doctor on Voyager), Manu Intiraymi (Icheb on Voyager), Gary Graham (Vulcan Ambassador Soval on Enterprise) and Richard Herd (Admiral Owen Paris on Voyager).
The premise of the show focuses around Lexxa Singh, played by Adrienne Wilkinson, the “bastard daughter” of Khan Noonien Singh. She is hired unofficially by Star Fleet to lead a band of renegades to investigate the disappearance of dilithium crystals.
Watch the trailer and see if you are as intrigued as I am, they give you just enough of Lexxa’s past to make you wonder, and they instantly hook you into the main plotline.
