DuckTales is Coming Back

Remember DuckTales? That animated series that ran through the late ’80s and early ’90s? It was one of those cartoons that adults and children loved to watch. It had elements in a perfect combination that is rarely found in cartoons today… it had adventure, intrigue, characters we loved, good writing and good animation. It was so good that it even managed to win an Emmy. It had unique characters and everyone had their favorites: Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Launchpad McQuack, Donald Duck, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell, Poe, Ma Beagle, the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack.

My personal favorite was Magica, but then again I have always had a thing for villains.

There is great news for all of us that remember it fondly. Disney XD has announced that there will be an all-new DuckTales series on Disney XD. Unfortunately we will have to wait until 2017, but that means they will have time to do it right.

Senior Vice President of Programming and General Manager of Disney XD said, ““DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history. It drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship and set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”

And as long as they continue in that same spirit, there will be many of us eagerly waiting for it.

Unfortunately there is no news on who is working on the scripts, the voices or the cartoons themselves.
