This year is the 30th anniversary of Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA (Sep 2 – Sep 5, 2016). For many, SDCC is considered the ultimate comic convention, but for most cosplayers, this is the convention to go to.
Dragon Con (DC) was started in 1987 by a local group known as the Dragon Alliance of Gamers and Role-Players. The first event was held at the Piedmont Plaza Hotel and featured several well known and prestigious guests such as Michael Moorcock, Robert Aspirin and his wife Lynn Abbey, Gary Gygax, and Richard “Lord British” Garriott. The event was a hit. It continued to grow yearly with more names, bigger crowds and more events.
Last year, DC had 70,000 attendees and this year they expect 5,000 more. Things have expanded and moved around so much that I thought I would give you a handy list of where and when to find just a few of the more popular things.
Or you can pick up the pdf version of the pocket program here.. but be warned…it is 112 pages. You can also get their app here.
