Dr. Dre’s New Album ‘Compton a Soundtrack’ Has Dropped!!

“Compton a Soundtrack” – the all new Dr. Dre album became available to the public via a number of sources, starting at midnight on the 7th of August 2015. This is Dr. Dre’s first full album in almost 16 years of being absent from the Hip-Hop record world. In an exclusive interview with The Pharmacy a week back he hinted at the new album and dropped the bomb there that the album was already done! Not only that but the album “Compton A Soundtrack” would release in only a weeks time. I as many others were very reluctant at the news since Dre’s ‘Detox’ album has had so many false alerts. Now it seems the musical hip hop legend is back and back with many of his old friends like Snoop, Eminem, Xzibit, Kendrick Lamar and his N.W.A. mate Ice Cube! The album also feature a lot of new names to me like Marsha Ambrosius, Justus and King Mez.  I give this album a full recommendation…there are some seriously good beats throughout the entire album as expected with plenty of great songs I’m banging to since first listen. No doubt in my mind this will be another great masterpiece in the collection of Dr. Dre’s platinum and gold records.

While the title of the album “Compton A Soundtrack” might seem like it means it’s a soundtrack to the film “Straight Outta Compton,” it’s not. At least not directly as Dr. Dre puts it in the interview he did with Apple Music’s  The Pharmacy. Instead Dre says that this is an album that’s indirectly inspired by the film – or at least memories of Dre’s life in Compton as outlined by the film. There’s a totally separate soundtrack for the film “Straight Outta Compton” which is good on its own right.

As Dre says now that the album “Detox” is dead. As Dr Dre put it on the Apple Music radio show “The Pharmacy,” “I’m gonna keep it 1000% with you. I don’t think I did a good enough job [on that album]. I couldn’t do that to my fans. I couldn’t do that to myself.” So as, Dre suggests, think of this new album ‘Compton A Soundtrack’: “It’s going to be my grand finale.”
