DC Films Studio Admits There Is “Room for Improvement”

There has always been a divide between DC and Marvel and over the last several years that divide has become more obvious than ever.

DC is good at some things; Marvel is good at the rest.

DC has excelled when it comes to television programming. They have several current hit TV shows including Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Lucifer, Preacher and iZombie.

When it has come to video games, DC has been doing great. They not only have several Lego-based games, but they also have the entire Arkham series.

As for movies….well, DC does fantastic at the animated movies, but they are definitely falling short when it comes to the live action flicks. Face it, the DC Extended Universe pretty much sucks, especially when you line it up with the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, and Suicide Squad have all failed out expectations. Out of the three DC movies, Suicide Squad was the best, but even it fell drastically short.

DC still has several movies in their queue and I think most of us were thrilled to hear that some of our favorites were getting their own films. Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Cyborg, all of them heroes who we would love to see carried through to the big screen. Even the Green Lantern Corps gets another shot at a film. The best part of all this was that DC was going to tie them together in two Justice League movies.

However, after seeing the last few movies, I don’t think any of us are holding our breath for the next batch.

Variety reported that the CEO of Time Warner, Jeff Bewkes, told his investors that he is aware there is “a little room for improvement” in the creative direction of Warner Bros.’ upcoming films.

Apparently his main focus was on creating a ‘lighter tone’ for the characters as the films do need a little bit of improvement. To help with improvements the studio has brought in a few DC big wigs, Geoff Johns, DC Comics entertainment president, and John Berg, production head.

Hopefully this helps, but honestly I think they need more than just a little humor added in. How about they just wipe the board and ditch the director and maybe get a few more writers who maybe know the characters?

I’m actually almost afraid to see what he next batch of DC films produce.
