FAN EXPO Chicago 2023 returned to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center on August 10th and runs though August 13th for their 2023 show.
Friday was my first day at FAN EXPO Chicago. I had heard from a few friends that the convention center seemed to be having issues adequately cooling the building, and that was definitely true again on Friday (as well as the rest of the weekend). Most of the day, the convention center was not terribly crowded, with many still having commitments that didn’t allow them to attend until either later in the day or until the weekend started. As such, it was still fairly easy to get around despite some of the narrower aisles, particularly in Artist Alley. It was a good day to get the lay of the land and do some shopping, as well as catching up with friends you might not have seen in a while.

Along with the typically smaller crowds, there weren’t a huge number of cosplayers, but there were still quite a few dressed as their favorite characters and having fun entertaining others.
