[Cosplay] A Look Back at Geneva Steam 2016

Geneva Steam 2016

This year has been complete chaos and the convention world (along with everything else) has been put on hiatus. PopCultHQ thought we would take a walk down memory lane and look at cosplay from years past.

Unlike your typical comic and anime conventions which are held in any available conference rooms or centers, Steampunk conventions are about atmosphere. After all, they are the Victorian era and they want to reflect that. Organizers of these conventions try for settings they feel are appropriate.

Geneva Steam was no exception. It was held at the Lake Lawn Resort which was built in the 1870’s around Indian burial mounds. The hotel is described as rustic and country, mixed with a bit of regal Victorianism. The perfect spot for a Steampunk Convention.

The whole convention was the brainchild of Melinda “Pinky” Mitchell who had a fantastic team helping her.

Special thanks to Aili Wadlund of Catch A Glimpse Photography for the wonderful photos of this convention. Check out her Facebook page for the full quality photos and more coverage of the convention.
