Star Wars Celebration Anaheim has officially joined the rank of cancelled events for 2020. The announcement was made today on both the Star Wars and Celebration websites, citing the impact of the COVID-19 virus and local public health guidelines:
At Star Wars Celebration, the health and safety of our fans, attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff is always our number one priority. Due to the global impact of the COVID-19 virus and in speaking with local and state authorities on the latest public health guidelines related to indoor conventions, we have made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration for 2020.
The good news is that a new date for the convention has been announced, and will now take place August 18-21, 2022.
Further good news is that fans who already purchased thier tickets for the convention can choose to transfer their tickets to the new date, receive a refund, or receive a credit for Star Wars Celebration merchandise. If you choose to transfer your tickets, you will be mailed a free exclusive Star Wars Celebration stormtrooper pin for each ticket.

The period for refund and merchandise credit request will begin on June 22nd and must be completed by August 26th. In addition, all ticket holders will be sent an e-mail with detailed instructions about the process. If you had booked a hotel room through the official housing portal, that reservation will be automatically cancelled and no further action is necessary.
What do think about this announcement? Will you be attending Star Wars Celebration’s new date?
