The Force is strong with the Midwest. Next year, the famed Star Wars Celebration 2019 will be hosted in the Windy City itself, dear old Chicago. Tickets go on sale very soon, June 5th at precisely noon.

Star Wars Celebration will take place April 11-15, 2019. Hosted by ReedPOP, the event will be taking place at the famed McCormick Place in the heart of Chicago’s Southside. While there is no information yet as to who will be there and what sort of events within the Celebration will be taking place, it is a safe bet that it will be just as spectacular as previous Celebrations.
Celebration Stage – Wintrust Arena
The Celebration Stage will shine with bright stars and original entertainment from Friday through Monday. Presenting not-to-be-missed productions, intimate conversations, and live events, the Celebration Stage is a must for every fan’s weekend plans.

The Galaxy Stage will offer a premiere experience with a wide variety of shows featuring the depth and breadth of the Star Wars universe. Catch conversations with the masters, celebrity appearances, and other legendary Star Wars entertainment.

Behind-the-Scenes Stage – Location TBA
Celebration’s Behind-the-Scenes stage covers the ins and outs of what goes into creating the Star Wars universe, hosting guests who make it happen for the movies, television, toys, books, comics and more.

Fan Stage – Location TBA
We say that Celebration is “By the Fans; For the Fans,” and the programming on the Fan Stage presents the very best, the most creative, and the most fun of the many great ideas presented by fans to the Celebration team. Look for fan-produced and presented game shows, cosplay panels, instruction on building and maintaining your own droid, and much more.

Collector’s Stage – Location TBA
Collecting Star Wars is a favorite hobby for some and an obsession for others. The Collectors’ Stage will feature panels by expert collectors from all around the world on a variety of topics from mainstream to delightfully obscure.

Podcast Stage – Location TBA
Celebration welcomes excellent fan-produced Star Wars podcasts to the show, each selected from a large field of applicants. Come hear them broadcast live from Celebration throughout the weekend.

Star Wars University – Location TBA
Learn from experts and masters of many disciplines, as they present the fine points of their chosen craft in an intimate classroom setting. Come prepared to learn and often work along with the teachers. Writing workshops, art master classes, show production, Japanese Star Wars vegetable carving and more!

Orlando’s Star Wars Celebration in 2017 boasted a lot of amazing and out of this world happenings. PopCultHQ penned a variety of articles covering those past events including the Celebration Cosplay Contest, Diorama Workshop, and an R2 Builders Club.
Let’s not forget one of the big draws for these sorts of things is special guests. And Orlando 2017 boasted a fabulous lineup: Billy Dee Williams, Forest Whitaker, Anthony Daniels, Ian McDiarmid, Peter Mayhew, and of course, Mark Hamill. There were also appearances by Felicity Jones, Ray Park, Hayden Christensen, Steve Blum and many others.
Star Wars Celebration presents cast and crew from across the Star Wars saga as well as pop culture personalities, artists, writers, and celebrities who love Star Wars. Guests will be added to the show’s website all the way up until the show. Be on the look-out for surprise guests, too, as there’s no telling who might make a special appearance at Star Wars Celebration!
As previously mentioned, cosplay is a major part of Celebration. 2017 saw a lot of amazing and detailed costumes showing up on the floor. Either way, Star Wars costumers both veteran and amateur are invited to join in an exciting Cosplay Competition on stage at Star Wars Celebration Chicago! Participation in the cosplay competition is free, but all participants must have a valid entry badge for that day of Celebration in order to compete. The exact time, date and details of the Cosplay Competition will be announced at a later date. We hope you will join us for what is sure to be a fun-filled competition celebrating the talent, skill and determination of the best Star Wars best cosplayers in the galaxy.
How it works
- All entries must represent a character or element from the Star Wars universe.
- Each entrant will submit an application to be reviewed by the Star Wars Celebration team. Entrants may only enter one costume into the competition.
