[Convention] C2E2 2020: The CW’s ‘Arrow’ Takes Aims for Chicago w/ Stephen Amell & Emily Bett Rickards

Arrow at C2E2

Every year brings with it new beginnings and endings. 2020 marks the end of an era for many programs in the world of TV, and the start of new ones as well.

Since its inception years ago, Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) has always strived to be head-and-shoulders above other conventions in the Midwest. By having a balance of pop culture figures, both actors in the realms of movies and TV, and comic book industry professionals, it has always offered something for everyone, for every kind of fan out there.

Some recent additions to the convention lineup include comic book writer Gail Simone, ‘Power Rangers’ alumni David Yost and wrestling personality Hangman Adam Page.

Arrow first aired on The CW in the fall of 2012. In the years since it has been on, it has filled the lives of its fans and audience with action, adventure, drama, and a very human look at what it means to be a hero, to put on a mask, and take up the fight against injustice and evil. For 8 years, this show has taught everyone so many valuable lessons about life, about forging relationships, and how to take on impossible odds no matter the cost.

Two of the shows stars will be at C2E2 2020: Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow) and Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak/Overwatch).

Stephen Amell is a household name, and in truth needs no introductions. He has starred in a variety of shows over the years, and was Casey Jones in the 2016 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. But he will always be remembered best for his work as Oliver Queen, not just on Arrow, but on other DC shows on The CW as well, including Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow. As Oliver, Stephen took one of DC Comics oldest, and respected, characters and brought him not only into the 21st century, but into the hearts and minds of legions of people. A flawed individual who made mistakes, rose, fell, and rose again. And along the way, taught an entire generation of viewers what it means to be a hero.

Emily Bett Rickards has owned every role she has ever taken on. From her leading parts in the movies Dakota’s Summer and Funny Story, to the 8 years she spent on Arrow. In playing Felicity Smoak, Emily presented a character who was funny, brilliant, fearless, sassy, and not afraid to stand up for what was right, even when it was the hardest thing to do. She kicked butt and took names, all the while being drawn into the crazy world of superheroics. Audiences laughed with her, delighted in her joy at saving the world and falling in love with Stephen (Oliver) and shared in her sorrow in the series finale. Emily gave people so much with the character of Felicity, and it was a beautiful journey to be on.

Stephen and Emily will be at the show February 28th– February 29th.

Sharpen some arrows, dust of your hacking skills, and be prepared to save the Multiverse. C2E2 is weeks away and getting closer. A time of geeking out, of excitement, fandoms, and fun. There is no turning back at this point. It’s nearly time, it’s nearly here. Let the nerding begin.
