[Convention] C2E2 2020: Grab a Bat – ‘The Boys’ Cast Comes to Chicago

The Boys @ C2E2 2020

Christmas has come and gone. And closing in right behind it is New Year’s Eve. One decade comes to an end, and another begins.

Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) is a convention that always serves up a little bit of everything for the people that come to Chicago. When the 2020 show rolls around on February 28th – March 1st, there is going to be a smorgasbord of comic book industry professionals, celebrities, authors, and gaming figures at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

Some new faces added to next year’s celebrity lineup include Matt Mercer of Critical Role, voice actress Laura Bailey, and voice actor Josh Grelle.

The Boys made waves when the first season was released on Amazon Prime on July 26th. The show was adapted from the hit comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, with a second season declared in advance by Amazon at San Diego Comic Con this year.

Several of the stars of the show will be in town on Saturday & Sunday for C2E2 2020. Noteworthy names include Dominique McElligott (Queen Maeve), Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk), Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), and Antony Starr (Homelander).

Dominique McElligott is a performer whose name has been attached to some impressive works over the years. As a star of both film and TV, she is synonymous with excellence and dedication to the craft of acting. Several of her most memorable performances include the film Blackthorn (as Etta Place), Hell on Wheels (as Lily Bell), Astronaut Wives Club (as Louise Shepard), and House of Cards (as Hannah Conway).

Laz Alonso has a background that is rich and varied. With an BBA from Howard University, he worked as an investment banker for Merrill Lynch before moving into acting, and he hasn’t turned back since. Playing Mother’s Milk on The Boys is really just another notch on his belt for him. Laz has been a part of some top notch stuff, including the movies Jarhead (as Ramon Escobar), Fast & Furious (as Fenix), and Avatar (as Tsu’tey).

Karl Urban truly needs no introduction. Like his co-stars, Karl has been making waves in Hollywood for years now. From Lord of the Rings to Riddick and the new Star Trek film series, Karl takes each role he is given, and molds into something not only amazing, but downright fantastic. As Billy Butcher, he brings to life all the hard cynicism and intensity that Ennis and Robertson poured into the character when the comic book was the talk of the town, in a way that makes Billy leap off the page and screen and into fans’ lives.

Antony Starr is an actor who has starred in some fantastic projects in both his native New Zealand and Australia. One of his most noteworthy roles is on the comedy crime drama Outrageous Fortune. There he showed his skills off in a huge way, playing twin brothers Jethro and Van West to major acclaim during the shows 10-year run. Now he steps up to bat as Homelander, a Superman-style hero who wants to make the world a better place, and has some serious inner demons as well.

All four of these acting superstars will be at the convention February 29th– March 1st.

Make some noise and bring the pain, The Boys are coming to Chicago in 2020. Whether a hero or villain, hardened bad*** or cynical superperson, there’s always fun, excitement, and delight at C2E2. Put those game faces on and get ready to rumble. The new year is nearly here and C2E2 will be back in town.
