Ewan McGregor makes his directorial debut with this adaptation of Philip Roth‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. McGregor plays Seymour “Swede” Levov, a former high-school star athlete who seems destined for a charmed life after he inherits his father’s business and weds an ex-beauty queen. Years later, with the Vietnam War raging, Levov’s perfect world begins to fall apart when his activist daughter commits a heinous act of political terrorism. Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Connelly, Molly Parker, Uzo Aduba, Rupert Evans, and David Strathairn co-star.
Gimme Danger
Jim Jarmusch directed this in-depth profile of the legendary American rock band the Stooges and their charismatic frontman Iggy Pop. The documentary explores both their initial impact on the musical landscape of the late ’60s, and their lasting influence on everything from punk to alternative rock. Gimme Danger premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival as a part of their Midnight Screenings.
