Coming to Blu-ray: ‘Transformers: The Movie’ 30th Anniversary Special

There are very few seminal events in a geek-child’s life growing up in the 80’s; one of them most definitely was the tragic death of Optimus Prime. Not in a live action movie, mind you, this was far more brutal as it was in the very first full-length animated movie for the Transformers franchise in 1986.

This fall, not only will you be able to relive that shocker all over again, you will be able to share the intense moment with your younglings and scar them for life as well. Just kidding.

Independent U.S. distributors Shout Factory have confirmed that they will release on Blu-ray “The Transformers: The Movie,” and will be available for purchase on September 13th. Not just a re-release, as this new 30th anniversary will be “newly remastered and transferred in HD from the original 35mm elements” with “a full-range of bonus content and collectible packaging which are currently in development.”
