By all accounts, the internet-only Comic-Con@Home event has been a resounding success, delivering the thrills and chills of San Diego Comic-Con to fans all over the world! With all that hooplah, even the most devoted IDW fan may have missed a news bite or two! For your enjoyment, IDW Publishing has shared a look back at the insightful panels, award wins, and new project announcements from the event.
First, let’s start with a time-sensitive announcement: IDW’s dedicated web store for Comic-Con Exclusives will close by 5:00pm Pacific Time TODAY, July 27th! That means fans have only hours remaining to pick up rare and collectible variant cover editions of IDW’s latest comic releases, plus autographed Bookplate Edition graphic novels. In fact, many of these hot items have already sold out! On Friday night, July 24th, Comic-Con International virtually hosted the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards ceremony. We are proud to announce that Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo) won “Best Letterer”, Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo: Grasscutter Artist Select won “Best Archival Collection/Project — Comic Books”, and They Called Us Enemy won “Best Reality-Based Work.” You can read more about the Eisner results and acceptance statements from the creators by clicking here.
Two major new projects were announced this past week! Marvel Action: Chillers, the spine-tingling new addition to IDW’s Marvel Action line (more info here), will be written by Jeremy Whitley and feature artwork by Ahmara Smith, Bowen McCurdy, Gretel Lusky, and Bill Underwood. Also, IDW revealed the full details on the time-traveling crossover series Transformers / Back to the Future by writer Cavan Scott and artist Juan Samu (more info here).

IDW Presents: G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes with Rob Liefeld
The legendary Rob Liefeld (New Mutants, X-Force, Youngblood) discusses his lifelong love affair with G.I. Joe, and how the beloved Hasbro brand influenced his comics work and various creations (including Deadpool). Plus, get a firsthand account of the creation of IDW’s hot-selling Snake Eyes: Deadgame comic book miniseries!
The Science of Back to the Future
IDW teams up with the renowned scientists of the Fleet Science Center to discuss where the pseudo-science and real (or hypothetical) physics and technologies of Back to the Future collide! Also, join IDW editor-in-chief John Barber for a discussion of the new crossover, Transformers / Back to the Future, with writer Cavan Scott and artist Juan Samu, including news about the time-traveling new Autobot Gigawatt!
IDW Presents: Draw a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
Listen to Kevin Eastman (TMNT co-creator) and Sophie Campbell (ongoing series writer/artist) as they reveal startling secrets of upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and TMNT: The Last Ronin comic storylines! Chad Thomas (artist of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) joins Kevin and Sophie to show fans their tips and tricks for illustrating your favorite Turtle in a variety of styles!
IDW Presents: The Mueller Report in 10 Minutes
Cartoonist Shannon Wheeler and journalist Steve Duin help navigate one of the most misrepresented publications of recent history: The Mueller Report! Shannon and Steve recently turned the political tome into a pithy graphic novel (published by IDW, and scheduled for September 2020). Was there collusion or obstruction? Did the Russians interfere in our election?
IDW Presents: Jim Lee’s X-Men Artist’s Edition Spotlight
Superstar Jim Lee (X-Men, Batman, Wildcats) makes a special appearance to discuss his early days at Marvel, joined by inker Scott Williams to walk you through their decades of collaboration!
