Bloodshot Salvation #4
Writing:
Jeff changes gear in this book. Instead of the focus being on Bloodshot, Magic and the family, this time he focuses his attention on two of the stories secondary characters. In doing so, Jeff gives readers a dark look into the past of both The Scarred Man and Rampage. What will come from the revelations revealed in this book will rock people to their very core and add a new shape to the world of Bloodshot.
Art:
Mico’s art style for this issue is still amazing, but also toned down. Instead of intense action, there is minor strife and pain. But it’s the kind of art depicting pain and strife that will strike a chord with readers and resonate with them on many levels. As with Jeff’s script, secrets will be revealed behind The Scarred Man and Rampage, and thanks to Mico’s art, nothing will ever be the same.
Diego’s colors are like Mico’s art this issue. There isn’t any big and flashy, or splashy action sequences. Of course there is some violence, but for this issue it’s got a toned down nature that calls for toned down color choices. And while the layouts and script bring to light a backstory that is tinged with darkness, that doesn’t stop Diego from infusing some bright colors for specific panels, to balance out the serious nature of this issue.
While Simon’s lettering for the last three issues has been more stern, here things get downright dark. Lettering an issue that is the beginning of an origin story behind Bloodshot’s latest, perhaps greatest nemesis, means that the lettering packs more punch. It is a daunting task to which Simon sets himself, and he surpasses all expectation with flying colors.
PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:
Here it is readers, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…the story behind Rampage. A man who is ruthless, has no second thoughts for taking life and will do anything to achieve his goals. Now it is time to draw away the curtain. Be warned, what is seen will be shocking and shake everyone.
