 PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Bloodshot Salvation #5

Writing:

Bloodshot Salvation #5Jeff’s writing this issue really kicks up. While there is a lot of dialogue to fill in the blanks across the story, there is a heavy amount of violence too. The kind that makes a Bloodshot story one that isn’t just the typical superhero comic book. It’s about a man who can kick butt and will do anything now to protect his loved ones. Plus readers will get to see what is happening with Magic and little Jessie in the not-so distant future. It’s page after page of action and adventure, courtesy of Jeff.

Art:

Lewis and Mico team up on art for issue #5. Together they produce pages of excellence. Things are both gritty and bright with this book’s artwork. It’s fair to say that pairing them up as the artists for this latest Bloodshot series was an excellent decision. Every issue up to and including this one have been pure super-heroic magic. With two issues to go after this one, it can only mean one thing, that Lewis and Mico are going to kick things up with the art.

Diego has been killing it as colorist for the series. His work is one of detail, deciding what colors best go with what character’s and panels. Issue #5 is certainly no exception, especially with certain violent elements. Even that sort calls for certain shades of reds (for blood), and black/blue for bruising. It is a safe bet that as Bloodshot Salvation wraps up, Diego will have lots of great color choices in store for readers to enjoy.

Simon’s lettering is a critical piece of the comics. He is taking Jeff’s scripts and using his skills, applying the right touch to give every character breath and life. And also taking away life (depending on whom lives/dies). As with Lewis, Mico and Diego, the series wrapping up means that the workload will no doubt be more intense. This is due to the whole team delivering a real splash ending. So may Simon continue to surprise and delight all with the lettering he is doing.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

Bloodshot is taking the fight to Magic’s family. Magic and Jessie are meanwhile searching for Bloodshot in the future. Threads are being pulled tight as escalation ramps up the story for Bloodshot and his loved ones. Make sure to get a copy of this issue and see what happens as Salvation starts to see the end in sight.

PopCultHQ’s Rating:

5 Out of 5 Stars
