PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
USAGI YOJIMBO: THE HIDDEN #1
Stan takes Usagi on a brand-new adventure in this first issue. What starts out as a simple visit to an old friend will spiral off into another adventure. This time, it involves Usagi getting involved in matters that will help pave the way to radical changes in homeland. All courtesy of the brilliant storytelling mind of Stan Sakai.
Art:
Stan’s artwork never fails to mesmerize and amaze. Even the simplest thing like Usagi’s robes or the facial features of a fellow samurai are painstakingly laid out in a manner that shows the amount of dedication and work that is poured into each panel and page of this first issue. The only quibble is that this particular series is drawn in black and white, where color would help to enhance and further bring out the beauty of the artwork.
PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:
Stan Sakai has been delighting people and fans around the world since first creating Usagi Yojimbo and his world in 1984. Once again, Stan brings readers back into Usagi’s world, where more adventures awaits all who pick up a copy of this first issue and dive in.
