PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Redlands #6

Writing:

Jordie Bellaire has wrapped things up for this first run of Redlands. And in doing so, given a profound sense of closure to the series she and Vanesa Del Rey have put so much time and energy into. Readers will feel a certain completeness when opening issue #6. And when they read the letter from the creative team of Redlands at the end of the book, that will offer a tantalizing glimmer of things to come for the world of Redlands.

Art:

Vanesa R. Del Rey’s art for the 6th issue is fantastic. It serves to help wrap up Jordie’s first series plot, not to mention being visually fantastic to look at and enjoy. She plays a lot with panels and line work that seems to take readers all over the page, but in the end tie together with a neat little bow. A fitting last issue of artwork to help wrap up a great first run.

Clayton Cowles is taking a bow with the lettering for issue #6. Much in the same way Jordie and Vanesa are with the script and art, so too is he by delivering a powerful punch for the characters of Bridget and Casey and doing the lettering for Teddy Johnson. And with Teddy, Clayton letters a person who is vile and evil to the core, and plays a major role in tying up plot threads for Bridget.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

Redlands has come to its end. For now that is. And with that ending there is a sense of sadness, and yet of relief too. A relief that the heroes will be given closure, the kind that lends itself to moving forward with life, real or fictional. But it’s clear that there are more stories to tell, will be told as time marches on, and the team of Jordie, Vanesa and Clayton will return.

PopCultHQ’s Rating:

5 Out of 5 Stars
