Deadpool’s adventure in New Orleans continues, and the locals want to test their might against the Merc with a Mouth! But that ain’t all – Deadpool also draws the ire of the deadliest group of killers with the word “guild” in their name – THE ASSASSINS GUILD! And boy, are there are a LOT of them!

PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Deadpool: Assassin #3

Writing:

Deadpool’s extending his stay down in New Orleans and Cullen has him going up against some tough customers. More friendly faces from the Assassin’s Guild, all eager to put the hurt on DP. And there’s more surprises waiting along the way amidst bullets, blades, and blood. What Cullen has in store for everyone’s favorite Merc will surprise even the most seasoned Marvel fans. Face front and believe folks, this is one comic whose story is not something to miss out on.

Art:

Mark’s got mega-art madness going on here. There’s a heavy creative streak going especially during the fight pages. Bagley provides great artistic distinction for not one, not two, but SIX, yes six members of the Guild. That means six different figures, with faces and powers and costumes all unique and their own. Mark makes them all stand out in their own way…for as long as they are alive while he has them fighting Deadpool.

John Dell aced it with the inking for issue #3. All of the ink work is spectacular. But a place where he puts a lot of particular emphasis is still in shadows and dark spaces. Especially now with the action flowing through New Orleans, which means a lot of alleys where people can hide and see without being seen. There’s also a fun moment where John inks the powers of one of the assassins. Reach page 14 and readers will see what this reviewer is talking about. In summation, John is the man with the awesome plan for inking and it’s a grand thing indeed.

Edgar and Dono. Darned if this isn’t a power pairing to cover the colors of this book. They dish out color like people won’t believe, every page is rich with it. Sort of like they dumped out a whole boxes of colors, and just started using them where they knew each would work best. Red is a great primary (Deadpool’s costume, various blood splatters, even things like a villain’s cape or a glass of wine in the later pages). High marks to the both of them for their hard work here.

Joe, he’s the man who gets it done where lettering weighs in. With 6 new villains to play around with here, that’s a lot of fresh stuff. All of them have their little twangs in the lettering, things that make their voices, well, theirs. As for Deadpool, clearly Joe has fun when lettering the Merc with a Mouth. That’s the kind of sassy, spicy, and punchy character lettering that only comes from dedicated professionals like Sabino.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

Oh my stars and garters! It’s about to get a tad nasty down in New Orleans. Deadpool is up against the wall and facing some mighty tough customers. And that’s right, all of these fine folks are from the Assassins Guild. That means good old DP is gonna have to get his hands dirty and his blades bloody again. But what comes after the fight is done? Well, true believers are going to have to pick up the book and read it for themselves.
