Time is running out to stop Red Diamond from seizing the world’s wealth and building an empire on jewels and material riches. Lurking in his lair at the bottom of the ocean, Red Diamond plots his global takeover while rolling around naked in mounds of jewels. All computers are wiped out, civilians are rioting in the streets, and Eggsy’s Mum has been beaten and left for dead. Eggsy and Kwaito are stranded in China. How’s our novice spy going to get himself—and the rest of the world—out of trouble this time? Issue number five of this unstoppable, action-packed miniseries contains full-frontal nudity, explosives, submarines, and DIAMONDS.

 PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Kingsman: The Red Diamond #5

Writing:

Rob has Eggsy and Kwaito take the fight to Red Diamond. As the world falls apart, he has these two intrepid spies use their skills and smarts to ascertain the master villain’s base. Now its game on to save the world as the second chapter of Kingsman reaches its end point.

Art:

Simon’s art is big and lavish, especially the pages inside Red Diamond’s base. Be warned though, there is a rather unexpected and freaky surprise waiting for readers, as well as for Eggsy and Kwaito. It could mean either victory or certain doom and that’s thanks to Simon and the work he has done on issue #5.

Gary has done it again as colorist. Issue #5 is a big and loud explosion of color-mania. There’s not one single panel or page that isn’t bursting forth with colors to entice readers to keep going. Whatever Gary has cooked up to cap things off in the last issue, it’s going to be pretty hard to beat.

Peter packed a mean punch on this issue’s lettering. Top notch job all around. There’s some great lettering from background figures that is fun to see, especially from Eggsy’s fellow Kingsman agents. As the series conclusion is in sight, it’s time for Peter to pull out all the stops and deliver a slam bang finish.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

Eggsy’s latest Kingsman assignment is nearly done. Issue #5 raises the stakes more and brings interesting surprises about. It’s going to be a hair-raising finish as things come to a head. All Kingsman fans and Image readers should make sure to pick up this week’s book before the grand finale.

PopCultHQ’s Rating:

5 Out of 5 Stars
