The smash-hit from superstars Grant Morrison (Green Lantern, Happy!) and Dan Mora (Once & Future) returns with this special collection of holiday-themed stories. Klaus must help an absentee dad-turned-snowman make amends before melting away for good. And probably before he’s defeated by a pantheon of Norse Gods and their minions. All in a day’s work for Santa Claus. And then see Klaus in the role of father himself, as he takes in Joe Christmas as an infant, and guides him through all of life’s wild adventures in a holiday calendar-inspired comic, presented in the widescreen tradition of Grant Morrison’s 2001 New X-Men Annual.

PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
KLAUS: The Life & Times of Santa Claus HC

Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Sinterklaas. Different names for a being loved and known throughout the entire world. He sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. He knows if you’ve been bad or good. He is Santa Claus. And now it’s time to see another side of Santa. The side that is oh so jolly, but also likes to seek out adventure for the greater good of the world. Grab the milk and cookies and get ready for Klaus!

Writing: Grant Morrison is one of the most beloved comics writers of all time. Every comic he has ever worked on has been acclaimed by comic book fans. Klaus is a prime example of why Grant is so great at what he does. He has taken a beloved holiday figure, and not only kept true to the spirit of who Santa is, but also added dashes of superheroic bravado and daring-do. The work Grant has done on Klaus is utterly spectacular. The scripts are full of adventure, excitement, and ultimately, the joy that people look forward to during the season of Christmas.

Art/Colors: Dan Mora has created something magical with the artwork he has crafted for the Klaus comics. There is such an infectious and exciting energy that emanates from every page. The layouts are spectacular, eye-catching, and chock-full of visual goodies for readers. Something that stood out was the detailing for Santa and the other persons who show up. Even a certain sad snowman looks so real, one could almost reach out and touch it. Fans of Dan’s work will love seeing it once again within this HC and want to gaze upon it again and again and again.

Letters: Ed Dukeshire is back again with Grant and Dan and gives the gift of his amazing lettering within this delightful HC. There is a reason that Ed has worked with these two gentlemen on the previous Klaus comics and it is because his lettering is superb. It captures the spirit of Santa and his fellow Christmas colleagues, all while delivering a spirited and excited air that one comes to expect from any comic that has the likes of Grant on writing and Dan on art.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

Christmas is a wonderous and magical time of year. Families come together and share in the joy of the season. Children eagerly await the arrival of Santa Claus. Now comic lovers can take home this delightful HC containing two adventures of Santa. With writing from Grant Morrison, art from Dan Mora and lettering from Ed Dukeshire, this is a wonderful book for readers and a definite must-have during the holiday season.
