PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Bloodshot Salvation #3

Writing:

Jeff has jumped shark in this issue. Not only is there tension-raising action, but readers get introduced to some new players. What’s more, Bloodshot finds himself in a situation that will have everyone hungry for issue #4 and seeing what happens next. As for Magic and Jessie, well everyone will just have to feast themselves on another of Jeff’s succulent scripts to see what happens to them.

Art:

Lewis and Mico bring another book chock full of great art to readers. There’s lots of action evident from their work, plus little things that are specific to each artist. A heavier contrast of shadows for the pages that take place in the future versus the art set in the present is a fine example. These two keep on proving that a tag-team of artists working together on a powerhouse book is a dynamite decision.

Brian and Diego’s color work is pure gold this time around. It’s a mixture of lights and darks, certain earth tones and darker peach-like hues for skin coloration, plus the classic gray of Bloodshot. Issue 3 (as with each issue before) are chock full of great colors executed by this team. Together, the series has shown so far to be a wonderland of visual enhancement color-wise.

Simon’s got a magic touch for lettering Bloodshot Salvation. There’s a power in his words, an energy that fuels into each character. Bloodshot, Magic, the various secondary figures. Every person so far has a clear and definable voice. Simon conveys their voices through his role as letterer, making it seem like these are not mere fictional characters but real people.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

Last issue, readers were introduced to Magic’s family. Now, they will get to see what happens when Bloodshot takes on this messed up clan to protect his wife and daughter. Not to mention things getting crazy for Magic and Jessie in the future as they hunt for the most important man in their life. Issue #3 is a real treat for everyone and worth it, much like issues 1 and 2. Make Bloodshot Salvation #3 one of the first books picked up this New Comic Book Day.
