Sawyer Sweeten, one of the twins from the TV series Everybody Loves Raymond, has died from an apparent suicide.  Sweeten, 19, had been visiting his family in Texas when the shooting occurred.  According to reports, Sweeten was in the Lone Star state visiting family when he shot himself on their front porch.

Sawyer portayed Geoffrey Barone for 10 years on the popular sitcom.  His real-life twin brother, Sullivan Sweeten, played Michael, his twin brother on the show.  His real-life sister also was a cast member.  Madylin Sweeten played older sister Ally Barone.  Upon the news of Sawyer’s death, Madylin released the following statement…

“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”

Star of the series, Ray Romano, released the following statement, “I’m shocked, and terribly saddened, by the news about Sawyer. He was a wonderful and sweet kid to be around. Just a great energy whenever he was there. My heart breaks for him, his family, and his friends during this very difficult time.”

Co-star Patricia Heaton also spoke abouth the tragedy, “Sawyer was a funny and exceptionally bright young man. He is gone from us far too soon. The loss the Sweeten family is experiencing is unimaginable. Tonight hug your children a little tighter and please keep Sawyer and his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
