Blade Runner 2049 doesn’t come out until October, but we’ve been getting a few tidbits on it. They are giving us just enough to whet our appetites without actually telling us anything.

We know that director Denis Villeneuve minimized the CGI and was trying to keep the same feeling as the original, which we are grateful for.
We also know that Blade Runner 2049 takes place 30 years after the original and Deckard (Harrison Ford) has been missing that whole time. LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) has uncovered a secret that endangers society and Deckard may have the answers K needs.
We know that Jared Leto is involved and will be playing a character named Neander Wallace, thanks to a small comment Mr. Leto made in an interview with the London Evening Standard,
“‘I play a character called Neander Wallace — to be honest they had me at the name,’ he says. In the trailer, he appears as a black-eyed medium, murmuring a monologue to Harrison Ford. ‘I read the script and fell in love with the character. But I don’t think I’m allowed to talk about it — I may have already got in trouble for telling you the name…”
What we do know is that his character seems a little creepy and from the trailer he seems like he may be the main antagonist. All we really know about the character is that he creates replicants. We can only hope that he doesn’t get edited like he did for Suicide Squad.
We also know that Edward James Olmos will be returning to the role of Gaff, a veteran Blade Runner. However, it will only be for one scene. Ana de Armas appears as a character named Joi, who is K’s love interest…and possibly a replicant.
Other actors in the film include Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis, David Dastmalchian, and Barkhad Abdi, unfortunately we don’t even know their characters names at this point.
Anything else at this point is speculation and rumor.
There are also rumors circulating that there was an ultra-secret pre-screening of the film, which included iron-clad disclaimers. I’m still pushing my sources for more information on that, as all I have so far is “We won’t deny it.”
