Roman Sionis is a name you may not be familiar with but the Black Mask is a name that you definitely know, and it seems that he may be the main villain, or at least one of them, in the upcoming film “Gotham City Sirens.” This is all speculation based on a tweet that director David Ayer sent out recently of Black Mask from the cartoon film, “Batman: Under the Red Hood.”

So who is Roman Sionis?… or more accurately… who was Roman Sionis before he was the Black Mask?
Sionis is a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. His upbringing was very different than how Bruce was brought up, even though he also came from a home of privilege. Sionis was a child of neglect, whose parents only cared for themselves and their reputation. Roman’s parents disliked the Waynes but maintained the illusion of friendship in order to secure their social position. Roman despised his parents and the masks they wore and eventually, he killed them.
Years later, he became the brutally sadistic villain Black Mask.
In more current comics such as DC’s Blackest Night event, we see Black Mask get involved with both Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Maybe that is what the film will use as a script for the upcoming movie.
We have had lots of casting rumors for this film including Megan Fox playing Poison Ivy and Haley Bennett as Catwoman. You can’t help but chuckle knowing another Haley is playing Catwoman.
The only certainty we have is Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, which she brought to life in the Academy Award-winning movie, “Suicide Squad.”
Who will play Black Mask? Time will tell as this film doesn’t have a release date yet.
