Bazinga!  It has happened!  Lego introduced their newest line… The Big Bang Theory!  Now you can add the #1 comedy’s characters to your collection!  This concept was the brainchild of Lego (and BBT) fans “Alatariel” and “GlenBricker” (their Lego usernames) through the “LEGO Ideas Project” where Lego fans can submit ideas for future development.  The process to have your idea chosen is not an easy task.  You need 10,000 supporters, and then it will go before a board for approval.  The project’s design is judged on a number of different categories (i.e. licensing, likeness, rights, etc.).  If it passes these tests, then it goes into production.  Here’s a look at the Lego fans’ original submission…

The first set Lego will be making available is Sheldon and Leonard’s living room.  It includes Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard and Raj; Amy and Bernadette will be released at a later date.  Lego definitely paid attention to detail with the guys’ dry erase boards for their equations, telescope, Green Lantern lantern, pizza and chinese food take-out boxes, bookcase, and the well-known couch (with Sheldon’s spot!).

The premiere set will retail for $59.99 upon release.  Not bad for a detailed and accurate portrayal of your favorite Caltech physicists’ residence.  Hopefully this set takes off and future sets are created.  Howard’s engineering department? Sheldon’s office?  The Caltech lunchroom?  The guys playing Mystic Warlords of Ka’a?  The Comic Center of Pasadena (Stuart’s comic shop)? How about future characters like Stuart Bloom, Barry Kripke, Professor Proton, and of course Wil Wheaton?! Or special guest stars like Stan “The Man” Lee, Stephen Hawking, Summer Glau, Levar Burton, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Katee Sackhoff, George Takei, James Earl Jones, or Leonard Nimoy?  What else would you like to see from the hit series?  Let us know in the comments!
